DB-Lex

Repository of multilingual and bilingual lexicographic production with Croatian as source or target language.

Despite a rich dictionary tradition, Croatian lexicography lacks a systematic repository of reference works with Croatian as source or target language. The proposed digital repository —of Croatian and foreign lexicographic production— constitutes a reference framework for teaching lexicography in philological studies and opens the way to further research in theoretical, bilingual and multilingual lexicography.

Methodology

  • Data collection through searches in library and other catalogues using defined parameters.
  • Data processing and preparation for digitisation (metadata, identifiers, object types and storage formats).
  • Building the repository and publishing it on the project and University websites.

Objectives

  • Establish criteria and parameters for building the digital repository.
  • Collect, analyse and digitise bibliographic and visual data on bilingual and multilingual dictionaries.
  • Secure copyright for the digitisation of representative sample entries.
  • Develop a web-searchable, publicly accessible repository as a basis for future research.
  • Make Croatian lexicographic production visible in the European and global context.
