Croatian corpus for a multilingual phraseological dictionary.
Phraseology in the broad sense covers collocations, idioms, pragmatic formulas and paremias. Phraseological and paremiological competence is an essential parameter of lexical competence in foreign-language learning. This package aims to build a corpus of the phraseological repertoire for a digital multilingual phraseological tool indispensable in teaching Croatian as a second and heritage language, with particular attention to non-standard forms.
Methodology
- Review of textbooks for teaching Croatian as a foreign language and of multilingual conversation handbooks.
- Review of general and phraseological —monolingual, bilingual and multilingual— dictionaries of Croatian.
- Comparison of phraseological and paremiological minima for various languages.
- Analysis of the CEFR to determine elements of phraseological competence.
- Building and lemmatising the corpus of the didactic phraseological dictionary.
- Lexicographic treatment, microstructure design and drafting of examples following phraseographic practice.
Objectives
- Investigate and analyse manuals for teaching Croatian as a foreign language and multilingual conversation handbooks.
- Analyse general and phraseological dictionaries of Croatian.
- Build and lemmatise a digital dictionary corpus for multilingual dictionaries focused on the phraseological repertoire.
